Took my son to the Moab Free Health Clinic for a sore throat/cold today. Because I'm in between health insurances right now, and money is tight, I thought that this would be the way to go. I was asked, before his exam, whether I had brought him in just because I wanted an excuse for school, or whether I brought him in because he was sick. The person who asked me this offensive question was the clinic "director". I complained to the doctor, who said that he directed her to ask this question. I'm very sick myself, with a sore throat, no voice and a sinus infection, in addition to the fact that my 2 year old nephew is with me, and he screamed the whole time we were in the clinic, which is typical of him. Believe you me, if I hadn't had to leave the house, I wouldn't have. My son was diagnosed with a cold…..no sinus infection nor strep throat, so, even though the doctor saw that he was coughing, sneezing, and his nose was inflamed from the constant blowing, he released him to go right back to school. I feel that it is unfair to the rest of his classmates to send him back to school to infect everyone else when he's clearly sick. I've now made an appointment for him to see a doctor at another clinic later this week. This was a total waste of my time and money!
