For $15 a night, that's a deal you can't beat but you also get what you pay for. All sites can be group sites so if you're a couple(2), try to find another place. We stayed here Sept 9, 2017 after a long drive and the site next to us was loud, blaring music until 11pm and continued to be loud around their fire past 12. We couldn't find a camp worker or which site was "theirs". We confronted the group about 2 times and the final time they wanted to come over and pick a fight while we were remaining calm and pointing out why we were upset. (Also noting: that it was a large(r) group that had alcohol and weed with them) There should be a camp worker that walks around after QUIET HOURS to make sure everyone is following this rule. Wanted to stay here again for the beauty of the sites at your own campsite but we will look else where next time and steer others clear of this place.
I love the Moab area and have been making that trek for 30 years now. The Beauty remains but the number of people that swarm the area nowadays, especially the state campgrounds, makes it a challenge to find a campsite. The hosts are sometimes good at managing and enforcing the rules, but often not. Huge RV's have also flooded the state campgrounds which also detract from the experience. Nonetheless, I love the area and will continue to camp at Big Bend Campground and other state campgrounds in the area.
Good for small groups. Not a good site for larger groups. Threaten with fine due to our group of 20 scouts. Had to do some reading and digging to know about that rule. Great scenery. Bathrooms were clean. Please make a few camp sites for larger groups so we can comply.
An incredible suprise to wake to with majestic beauty on all sides. Stand in awe to the power of the Colorado River and Mother Nature. Make sure to get a campground with ample wind protection on all sides. Between 2 and 5 AM winds pick up and very very heavily gust. Hunker Down
There were great trees here for shade and hanging up our hammock as well!
This was a FANTASTIC campground. My boyfriend and I stayed here two nights in July, and we absolutely loved it. We went to the store and bought a $3 inner-tube to float on in the Colorado River, which I highly recommend. My advice is to take your hikes early in the AM, float in the river mid day, and if it gets really hot, go to the Moab cafes for free AC and Wi-Fi.
