- Campgrounds: The designated drive-in spots for tents were nice (picnic tables and level gravel to pitch).
- Bathrooms were ok for pit-style national park facilities (could have been much worse).
I'm a little confused by the folks complaining that they didn't know they needed exact change and credit cards are not taken. Ummm... I'm a camping novice and was prepared for this since I checked out the BLM website that has all the info you will need before you even leave your house. Not sure why anyone would go on a camping trip without cash for just this purpose.
It's 2017!! Not everyone walk around with cash anymore!
This was one of the better campgrounds I've visited. I have a few comments to make though based on my experience:
Was nice and clean but should really accept credit card. We had to drive 45min back to find a atm to pay the 15$ campground fee.
Super quiet at night as it is off a dirt road that's not used much. No showers and just pit toilets, but they were the cleanest pit toilets I've ever used.
Great alternative to the camp sites directly in the park. Close sites and mostly the RV club around but amazing access to all the surrounding parks.
Great for a primitive campground in the middle of nowhere! It is heavily used by mountain bikers since the whole area is surrounded by MTB trails. Folks looked like they were having a blast. I chose this place because it was only $15/night and conveniently located between Arches and Canyonlands.
- Payment system: While I understand a lot of these "honor system" drop boxes aren't easy to monitor, it would be nice to have known that exact change was needed for the site (I ended up having only $20 bills for a $15 campsite). For having discovered this campground minutes after leaving Island in the Sky, it would be nice to have more accessible information posted in an area where it's not easy to do a quick Google search.
Overall a nice, quiet, clean, campsite!
LOVED this campground. Easily accessible, lots of camping spots, nice outhouses (most places don't have bathrooms, so even going in a hole with a toilet is refreshing), and you don't get that crowded feeling despite everyone around you. Very clean. Stayed for two nights. Would definitely come back.
