The rental return process went much smoother on 10.3.17. One lady and two gentlemen checked us in with politeness. The two guys working the morning of 9.29.17 could take a lesson from these three.
Had I ridden my Trek Fuel I would have not had the fun I did on the WE. The Slash did not disappoint. It was perfectly tuned and ready with SPD's when I picked it up at 8am. The bike felt like home and allowed me to bomb the DH sections with confidence. Never had any problems with flats or mechanical issues on the trail which was much appreciated given the unforgiving terrain and seeing others have multiple issues with their bikes along the stretch. It allowed me to spend the precious limited time I had riding and not wrenching. I did the last two miles of the WE in the dark because I took too long taking pictures (the landscape is mesmerizing). The Slash felt like riding a mountain goat along the rim of the canyon. I have already started planning the next trip to Moab (this time with some buddies) and will without a doubt return to Poison Spider for a bike and shuttle.
Rented some bikes for slickrock trail. Team was very helpful and knowledgeable. The bikes were in great shape and functioned flawlessly. Will definitely rent from them again.
They have been very helpful, friendly and deeply knowledgeable and experienced with everything mountain bike. Twice in a few days they fixed mechanical issues (blown front forks, spoke in rear mech) by mid morning the next day, despite being brought in at the end of a days riding. Staff were very helpful with great advice on trails to ride
These are truly great folks. Being from Houston and having limited experience in mountain country, they recommended I ride a Trek Slash on The Whole Enchilada based on my skill level and weight. I thought it was cool that they cared to ask a few important questions before recommending a bike. They also had a convenient link on their website for the Whole Enchilada Shuttle Co which I booked for the shuttle. It was quick and easy, they had my reservation pulled up as soon as I arrived.
good guys. good selection of bikes. have good trail advice and a free water bottle to boot:)
Mixed review. When we arrived to pick up our rental bikes (a group of 3) on 9.29.17, we were led to the back of the building to pick up our rigs after signing paperwork. Even though I emailed specific measurements weeks ahead of time, my rental bike did not fit. I emailed the measurements early to avoid the specific issues which occurred that morning at the bike shop. When I asked if they received my measurements, I was given an annoyed look. The annoyed looks only continued when i requested they change out the short stem for a longer stem. I received a, "we're not going to change out this stem again if it's too long" response. Really?! I just gave you $500 for a rental bike and you come with me with that reply! How about first ask the customer what bike he rides at home. Then ask the customer how long he's been riding. Maybe ask him his skill level and how many bikes he's owned in the past. I've been riding and racing mtb's for over 20 years now and after owning numerous bikes, I think I have a pretty good idea what does and does not work for me. Please have some faith in the customer. After a few more annoyed looks, swapping out the stem and setting the seat at the proper height (all of which were clearly shown on my emailed measurement diagram), I was ready to roll. A quarter way down porcupine rim, I had to re-tighten the headset, which was loose and creaking. Otherwise the Ibis Ripley was a great bike for Moab terrain.
