Great place to camp in Moab
Right off of Kane Creek, very convenient, AMAZING scenery!
Beautiful campsites about thirty minutes down a bumpy dirt road from Moab. Pretty much any car can make it, but drive with care, you will sometimes be on a ledge with no railing. One downside is that if there is a rare windstorm, these sites get hammered. We ended up with a tent full of sand. Luckily it only lasted 24 hours. There are crude outdoor toilets, no water or showers at sites. For an even more remote experience, drive over Hurrah Pass and camp along the Chicken Corners Trail. This drive requires a capable 4WD vehicle however.
A little difficult to get to and far away from town, this campsite would make a great spot to stay with spectacular views if the weather is nice. That was not our case. A warning to check not only the rain report but the possibility of high winds IN the canyons, not just in Moab. We stayed in the top part of Ledge B, and the winds that came down the canyon intensified as they swirled around the small valley created by the surrounding rocks. DO NOT LEAVE TENTS OR CANOPIES UP UNATTENDED, please! Our neighbors canopy took flight and dragged across our campground, ruining our tent. Thank goodness no one was in it! There were no warnings to the potentially dangerous wind anywhere. We ended up staying the night in our Subaru, and the winds were so strong it even rocked the car. No one around us made it through the night in their tents either, the average family tent could not withstand that kind of force. They either moved to their cars or left all together. However, the sites directly under the rock seemed to do just fine. Keep this in mind when picking out a campsite.
Great place to camp when the rest of moab is full.
