What an amazing place! The people at Under Canvas are wonderful. Very passionate about what they do and have created such a unique experience for someone looking for something 'out of the ordinary' ... for sure a must consider if you're visiting and staying in Moab!
Beds were comfortable and tents were nice, thus the 2 stars. We had no idea that the tents would be so close together and it would be so noisy. The major highway used by semi trucks all night long was visible from our tent (see photos) and the noise reverberates off the canyon walls so it actually sounds like low flying planes all night long (and I am not a light sleeper.) They have a jar full of earplugs for their guests - should have been a warning there. The promotional video they show on their website is misleading - only a few tents have privacy. The bathrooms are in a trailer and some of the lights don't work so if you don't plan ahead, you're in complete darkness. The bathroom sink is tiny and hard to reach in the corner. The shower does work, a plus. Only 6 bathrooms for 30+ tents - often have to wait in line to use them. We only stayed one night after terrible night's unrest, and left even though we paid for two nights - they were fully booked but no refund.
As someone that loves backpacking and setting up my own tent, it's going to be hard to go back after glamping. We would have spent our whole trip inside if Arches wasn't just down the road. The staff was helpful and nice. The tent we got had private parking, shower, and toilet. We made use of the stove and never once got cold even when temps got into the low 40's. Can't wait to go back!
Wow! What a treat to stay here while in Moab. Forget a boring hotel.... STAY HERE if you have the option!!!
First of all ...its a beautiful setting with these huge canvas tents. This week has been so hot outside and there's no fans or even bottles of water. Mist spray helps some. The price for one night is a little high. No breakfasts. Its a step up from basic camping...with the regular bed and dresser and chairs with a little table. I really enjoyed the sunset and sunrise. Gorgeous. It finally cooled off when the sun went down and I was able to sleep well.
Also, In regards to the 2 star review below... Don't let that deter you. Everything was very clean, up to date & accommodating. If you are high maintenance & expecting the Ritz Carlton... then this place isn't for you. If you're looking for a unique, friendly place to stay & if you love to be outdoors but don't want to discomfort of camping... this is the place for you!
First off, the tents & campground was absolutely stunning. It was such a treat to wake up to the beautiful surrounding mountains. The sunset was stunning & the staff even made a fun bonfire with smores at the end of the night. The facilities (restrooms, tents, check-in) were all very clean & brand new. I was shocked/impressed with how clean & tidy everything was for a campground. The staff was very friendly the entire time & even recommended great hikes/restaurants to check out. I wish we could've stayed here longer!!
